Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born in Barcelona and has been called an "atypical popstar" because of her diverse musical styles. She was fascinated by Spanish folk music when she was 13 years old. She was a musicologist at the Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. Combining flamenco, hip hop and pop music The album resulted in "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu Mira (single). Both songs became hugely popular and received widespread critical acclaim. El Mal Querer was the first to introduce Rosalia onto the international music scene. Rosalia's albums of 2019 "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were a pioneer in urbano music, achieving global success. She gave reggaeton an innovative twist on her third album Motomami (2022) and departed from the new flamenco sound of its predecessor. The album received the attention of the world with its two singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was the best reviewed album of the year on Metacritic. Through her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten #1 singles from her home country, the most for a local artist. Rosalia has also been awarded two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the year awards) Four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among others. Billboard has awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the sound of mainstream music through her flamenco-influenced pop"[1818. She was also the first singing Spanish artist to be nominated at the Grammys for Best New Artist.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born in a family without artistic heritage and is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family-owned business that specializes in metalworking. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in the year 2019. (23). She has an older sister, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) who collaborates alongside Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia became interested in the performing arts when she was a young girl and was particularly interested when she came across the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She began her musical education in the Taller de Musics [es]. She was enrolled in a six-year course in the academy. She started attending classes at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was an individual singer, performing at weddings and musical bars. For this she received "a just a little over 80 euros" or as a reward for dinner. Rosalia had also interacted with a variety of underground Spanish performers during this time such as La Zowi (Yung Beef), Kaydy Cain and Hinds.
